I’m Ruslana Cacka. My journey has taken me from Western Ukraine to Europe and then to Australia. Food has always been the thread that connects people, places and memories.

Food has always
meant more than a meal

Born in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukrainewhere culture and food traditions are passed down from generation to generation.I made Australia my homeand am proud to now be part of this beautiful multicultural country.I lived in Europe for some time,experiencing different cultures and learning how food brings people together.With around 15 years in hospitality,I believe food carries history, emotion and cultural identity.

The conversation that sparked an idea

One day, I was assisting at an exclusive dinner hosted by renowned Ukrainian chef Yevhen Klopotenko. We talked about borscht, Ukrainian culture and how UNESCO recognised the cultural heritage of Ukrainian borscht in 2022.

That conversation stayed with me. It inspired the idea that authentic Ukrainian borscht could be made easier for Australians to enjoy in their everyday lives.

In 2022, the culture of Ukrainian borscht cooking was inscribed by UNESCO on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.View the official UNESCO record
